Fang Chia

Fang Chia is an experimental rock band from Tacoma, WA and the culmination of four friends playing music together for ten years. The band’s musical influences are broad, ranging from Flying Lotus to Philip Glass to God Speed You! Black Emperor. Unsatisfied with being musically static, their motto is “Constantly Expanding in All Directions.”

Goddess Aphonic

Dark damaged psychedelia that is not so much flying into the sun as it is drowning in the concrete. Direct and sharp compositions that are heavily influenced by modern noise, no wave and free jazz.

Bay Area peoples, we are absolutely delighted to be hosting the Baltimore group Horse Lords on a two month tour for their most recent album. You will not want to miss these guys, the freshest sounds we’ve heard in a long time!

HORSE LORDS (From Baltimore on tour)

West African rhythms collide with just intonation guitars, art-fire saxophone, minimalist grooves, and collaged zapdowns on Interventions, the powerful third full-length from Baltimore’s Horse Lords. The band’s Northern Spy debut is also the first Horse Lords album to explore the classic studio-as-weaponry strategies of yore, mapping the quartet’s raw Baltimore lightning onto the experimental musique concrète territory surveyed by elder heads like Faust and This Heat.

Inner Ear Brigade (IEB) is an ensemble of musicians based in the San Francisco Bay Area who play a unique mix of progressive rock, free jazz, experimental pop, all delivered through their originally detailed compositions and arrangements. The music is “fun, happy, accessible, and proggy.” Steeped with a vintage analog sensibility, effects processing, and synthesizers, IEB crafts their sounds from “ RIO elements (Rock In Opposition), Canterbury (Sound), and Zappa”. IEB is Bill Wolter (guitar and compositions), Ivor Holloway (sax), Andrew Jamieson (keyboards), Steven Wright (bass), and Christopher Lauf (drums).

DennyDennyBreakfast (ddb) is the music project of Bob LaDue based in Oakland CA. The live band has a rotating set of members, and no 2 ddb shows are ever the same. Influenced by many things, pop music, death metal, cuban folkloric religious music and many other genres as well. All ddb music is available for at Bob enjoys making hummus, drinking sour beer, instrument building, rumba, rock climbing, zombies and much much more.

IEB Pacific Northwest mini tour Portland / Seatle

Inner Ear Brigade to appear in Portland, OR and Seattle, WA October 2, 3 & 4
Inner Ear Brigade will be making a rare visit to the Pacific Northwest the first weekend of October for three concerts. The band will be appearing at two shows in Portland, OR — Thursday, October 2 at The Firkin Tavern, and Friday, October 3 at Kelly’s Olympian. On Saturday, October 4 they will play at The Highline in Seattle, WA.

Inner Ear Brigade is an ensemble of musicians built around bandleader/ guitarist/ composer Bill Wolter, whose compositions feature a playful and inspiring mix of early 70’s progressive rock, electronic jazz, and experimental pop.

Wolter studied composition at Mills College with iconic avant-garde guitarist/composer Fred Frith, and has been involved in a wide variety of new music/creative music endeavors in the Bay Area. Inner Ear Brigade is the ensemble in which he displays in his uniquely original compositions — detailed epic musical odysseys that will take the listener for a journey through well-crafted songs and improvisation.

Inner Ear Brigade’s critically acclaimed full-length album “Rainbro” features 10 cuts of fun, happy, accessible, and “proggy” music. On the album you will hear uncanny chord progressions, three-part vocal harmonies, saxophone, brass, vintage keys and moog, and Wolter’s sinuous and animated guitar playing, all dancing around atop twisty odd meters and freely improvised sections, but not too far distant from pop aesthetics.

Inner Ear Brigade will be performing songs from “Rainbro” as well as brand new compositions that will appear on their upcoming new album, to be released in 2016, again on Italian record label AltrOck. Don’t miss it!

Thursday, October 2 at The Firkin Tavern, 1937 SE 11th Ave, Portland, OR
Friday, October 3 at Kelly’s Olympian, 426 SW Washington St, Portland, OR
Sunday October 4 at The Highline, 210 Broadway Ave E., Seattle, WA
